The Institute of Orphaned, Invisible and Obscure Images (IOIOI) is a research organization and archive engaged in identifying, collecting, study and analysis of diverse image material that have remained unseen, been historically neglected or not deemed worthy of scholarly or critical attention. IOIOI locates and acquires image archives or collections, both personal and institutional, and thereupon documents, edits, recontextualizes, curates and disseminates the source material through exhibitions, publications and events. Its mission is to educate the public about the social, cultural and political issues pertaining to images and enable a more informed and critical discourse around them. IOIOI is founded and managed by a group of media archaeologists, scholars, critics, curators, cultural historians and designers operating as a collective who choose to remain anonymous.
